Today we’re taking a trip to southern Brazil to tour a truly special home.
The colourful cottage, brought to us by architects Arquitetando Ideias, defies expectations, as the sprawling interior is far larger than one might expect from the outside.
However, what makes this home so charming is that every aspect of its design seems to be based around maximising comfort, and the result is an astonishing little abode full of quirky charm. Let’s take a look…
The sky-blue beach house is surrounded by a sizable lawn, as well as a paved driveway providing ample parking. The ornate arrangement of palms and spotlights that light the driveway, in conjunction with the home’s bright colour scheme, create quite the dramatic effect and produce a warm, welcoming ambiance.
As we make our way up the home’s entrance we come to a superb little patio space for relaxing outdoors. As you may expect with a beach home, much of the house’s design has been shaped around breaking down barriers between outdoor and indoor space to create one big, fluid, comfortable home.
Of course, no beach house would be complete without a hammock for relaxing in the sunshine.
The expansive indoor space has been designed very much with comfort in mind; a huge sofa in the middle of the room serves to divide the open-plan space, as well as to provide a surplus of comfy seating for the occupants to enjoy when they’re watching a movie together.
Behind the living room space there’s a dining area with plenty of seating for the whole family, but perhaps the room’s most appealing feature is the bar the runs along the back of the sofa allowing the occupants to enjoy a drink or a quick snack while watching TV.
Interestingly, the home has two dining areas. If we were to stand at the home’s entrance and walk down the long driveway we come what looks like a garage, but it’s actually a colourful little kitchen space with a dining table that opens to the outdoors; perfect for a family dinner on a hot summer evening.
The beautiful bedroom has a slightly more industrial aesthetic, with exposed brickwork dominating the décor. However, we still find those bright primary colours on the window shutters and accents that give the home its distinct, warm character.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our tour of this colourful cottage. Take a look at these lovely family homes for more unique creative dwellings.
