As we are propogaters for efficient and functional homes no matter what size they are – we can't help but feel impressed by small homes that create space in a miraculous way! Kitchens are forever one of the biggest contenders on the list of rooms you wish were bigger and often times, homeowners don't get what they wish for.

Below are seven great, space-efficient kitchens that exist in little houses. All of them are beautiful, aesthetically-pleasing and functional! There are always plenty of clever ways to make your small kitchen look spacious – you just have to get creative!

1. Foldable table

Check this foldable table out! What a clever fitting for a small house and kitchen! It comfortably seats two, but three or four could work as well!

2. Divided appliances

What a great cottage feel this kitchen gives off! The basin sink is large and efficient and the small worktop is perfect to prepare meals for one or two.

3. Wall-length cabinetry in narrow spaces

In narrow spaces, run those cabinets along the whole length of the room and don't stop there. Run cabinetry along the top and bottom and use hanging or magnetic racks for utensils.

4. A half-stove to create more space

Unless you're planning a dinner party for ten, more than likely you're not ever using all four stove burners at once. Accepting this is the first step – it's hard to cut back on what seems like 'standard protocol.' But trust us, giving yourself two burners will be fine, and it wil save you a ton of space!

5. Breakfast bars and great storage

Small and efficient, this kitchen has avoided hanging any utensils or items from the ceiling or under the cabinetry as a lot of kitchens do. This has made the space feel more open, modern and functional.

6. Use corner space

If you don't have an open kitchen and it ends up being its own room, then make sure you're using every little space you can. The designer of this kitchen has used the corner area as a way to store handy cookbooks and post a chalkboard for meal planning ideas and recipes!

7. Keep everything light and fresh

When all else fails (which, nothing is failing in this kitchen) keep your colour scheme light and allow as much natural light to show through as possible. On the smaller side, this kitchen clearly has everything you need and the great colours make it seem large and open!

Are you currently planning a small kitchen, or trying to figure out ways to work with one? homify can always help you out!
