Casa Cor is the biggest and most important event of national architecture and decoration in Rio de Janeiro. In 2011, the event took place at Linneo de Paula Machado’s mansion, a 1.500 m² house located in a property six times bigger, that was built in the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition includes 54 rooms, decorated by 86 different architects, interior and landscape designers. In a 95m² room, the architect Gisele Taranto has recreated the Living room of the Art Collector, mixing contemporary art and design where white color dominates.

Ceiling, floor and walls were kept original and received pieces of art and furniture. The biggest challenge was to show that it is possible to add contemporaneity to any historical room, still giving emphasis to both. Pieces of renowned and new promising artists, both nationally and internationally, were used in the space.

Since it was not possible to intervene with the existing walls (such as changing electrical installations, etc), nine Tom Dixon’s Cone Light pendants – fed by one source and harmonically spread – were chosen to hold the room’s lighting.

All contemporary furniture was provided by Casual Móveis (São Paulo), whereas the antique pieces were chosen from Arnaldo Danemberg’s Antiquarian. The curatorship is signed by Mara Fainziliber.
